Miguel Berchelt and Oscar Valdez have never lost a championship boxing match, but this will change for one of the sport’s rising stars Saturday night in Las Vegas. Berchelt defends his WBC super featherweight title against Valdez in a much-anticipated showdown between two of the sport’s most dominant champions in recent memory. Berchelt (37-1-1, 33 KOs) has defended the title six times and is 9-0 overall in world championship fights for major governing bodies. Valdez (28-0, 22 KOs) is a former WBO featherweight titleholder who also notched six defenses on his way to an 8-0 mark in major world title bouts.

The prize fight from the MGM Grand Conference Center is expected to start at approximately 10 p.m. ET. Berchelt is a -340 favorite (risk $ 340 to win $ 100), while Valdez is offered at +270 in the latest Berchelt vs. Valdez odds from William Hill Sportsbook. A 2020 Boxing Writers Association of America Cus D’Amato Manager of the Year nominee, Kahn has his finger on the pulse of what’s going on inside and outside of the ring for many years. Kahn has managed numerous world champions and currently manages 20 fighters through his company, Fight Game Advisors. He can be seen and heard weekly on “The Fight Guys” on YouTube.

Kahn is uncanny when it comes to picking fights. He is an astounding 32-7 on SportsLine boxing picks since the hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic, returning $ 3,472 to $ 100 bettors. Anyone who has consistently followed him has cashed in big time.

In the first major fight of 2021 in January, Kahn predicted Ryan Garcia would knock out Luke Campbell in under 9.5 rounds. Garcia knocked Campbell out in the seventh round. In December, Kahn said Anthony Joshua would knock down Kubrat Pulev in the first three rounds, a 2-1 underdog pick. The result? Joshua delivered two third-round knockdowns on his way to a ninth-round TKO. Before that, Kahn predicted legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. would fight to a draw, and anyone who followed Kahn’s advice was rewarded with a 12-1 payout.

In October, Kahn called one of the year’s biggest upsets, predicting Teofimo Lopez would stun Vasiliy Lomachenko to become the unified lightweight champ. The result? Lopez outhit the pound-for-pound king from the first bell, winning convincingly for a monster payout. Anyone who followed Kahn’s advice won $ 350 for every $ 100 risked.

Now, with Saturday’s showdown fast approaching, Kahn has analyzed Berchelt vs. Valdez from every angle, identified the best value in the boxing odds and released three best bets. Head to SportsLine to see all of his boxing picks.

Berchelt vs. Valdez preview

There are plenty of boxing insiders who believe Saturday’s main event could be the start of an epic rivalry that spans multiple fights. Several references already have been made to the historic trilogy between Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales. The fighters themselves are among the boxing experts who believe this is an apt comparison.

Valdez told the media this week that he draws inspiration from watching those classic Barrera-Morales fights and will no longer view them late at night because doing so results in sleep deprivation from the accompanying adrenaline.

Berchelt is similarly well versed in the history of his countrymen in the sport. On a conference call this week, the champion recited several significant milestones including the fact that Saturday’s bout will be the 93rd all-Mexico matchup for a WBC belt.

Moreover, this belt has rarely changed hands to fighters from other nations. Since 2003, eight fighters from Mexico have held the WBC super featherweight crown for a combined total of 15 years. You can see Kahn’s Berchelt vs. Valdez picks at SportsLine.
